On November 27, 2025, the Honor Artificial Intelligence and Design Summit (Asia-Pacific) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Attendees included Ouyang Yuqing, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia; Shalimin, Special Advisor to the Malaysian Minister of Higher Education; Shamsoo, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia’s National Artificial Intelligence Office (NAIO); and Xu Zhiyu, Senior Vice President of Honor Terminal Co., Ltd. Representatives from Chinese and Malaysian governments, industries, academia, and youth innovation communities engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as technological innovation, youth empowerment, and regional industrial upgrading.
A highlight of the summit was the Asia-Pacific launch and donation ceremony of the book series “New Logics of Artificial Intelligence in Art and Design,” published by Fujian Fine Arts Publishing House. Professor Wu Yabin, Ambassador of the World Economic Council and its China Representative, and Professor Zhuo Fan, Deputy Dean of the School of Urban Design at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, jointly attended the event and presented the English edition of the book series to Malaysia’s National Artificial Intelligence Office (NAIO) on behalf of the organizers.
The “New Logics of Artificial Intelligence in Art and Design” book series represents six years of collaborative academic research between China’s Central Academy of Fine Arts and the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It embodies cutting-edge research findings and practical experience at the intersection of AI and design, deconstructing new paradigms in AI-driven design through dual lenses of “technology + humanities.” This donation is expected to serve as a valuable reference for Malaysia’s academic research, policy formulation, and talent development in the field of AI, helping to build a systematic and comprehensive AI knowledge ecosystem locally.
Professor Zhuo Fan proposed that the term “AI” on the book series’ cover aptly symbolizes how both practice and theory in art and design are consistently intertwined with two distinct forms of “AI”: one being Artificial Intelligence, and the other Artistic Intellect—the uniquely human, artist-like wisdom and sensibility arising from the integration of mind and body, which constitutes the very soul of art and design. He emphasized that education must anchor itself in this Artistic Intellect to calibrate and counteract potential tendencies toward overuse, fragmentation, and trivialization in the application of artificial intelligence across various fields. By developing personalized educational pathways, accumulating multidimensional private-domain artistic data, constructing backend intelligent agent knowledge bases, building art knowledge graphs, and establishing scientifically grounded teaching evaluation systems, we can continuously enhance the richness, systematicity, and depth of Artistic Intellect—thereby ensuring that the synergy between art and technology genuinely serves societal well-being and people’s livelihoods. This perspective received broad agreement from the attendees.
As an industry-focused event dedicated to the integration of AI and design, the 2025 Honor Artificial Intelligence and Design Summit (Asia-Pacific) brought together government officials, academic leaders, industry pioneers, and young innovators from China and Malaysia. Centered on the theme “AI Empowers Design, Inspiring the Future,” the summit fostered deep dialogue around critical issues such as technological innovation, youth empowerment, and regional industrial transformation.
A notable moment during the event was the official launch of the AI + Youth Empowerment Society (AYES) Initiative, witnessed by representatives from over 20 academic institutions and organizations across the Asia-Pacific region. As a specialized platform focused on empowering youth, the AYES Initiative will integrate Honor’s technological resources, universities’ educational strengths, and real-world industry scenarios to carry out a series of activities—including talent cultivation, project incubation, and academic exchanges—in the fields of AI and design. The initiative aims to create a broad stage for Asia-Pacific youth to showcase their talents and empower them to become a driving force behind industrial advancement.
